Avocado production increases by 16.5%

Avocado production in Peru continues to grow and in 2012 will record an enviable record of 16.5%.
By the end of 2012 production of avocados will increase by 16.5% compared to last year.
Andina, the Peruvian agency, announced has published figures by consultants Maximixe showing that avocados will reach 249,900 tons by the end of 2012, 16.5% more than the previous year. This surge in production is due to increased
yields, improved technology and favourable weather conditions.
H1 exports recorded a growth of 17.9% and is expected to reach 20.5% at the end of the year. The growing demand from Asian countries and the United States leads the growth of exports.
