Strong growth for Delhaize in Belgium

Delhaize Group has recorded its strongest growth in Belgium, but sales are lower in its first market, the United States.
According to results published on 2010 sales of the entire group was of 20.85 billion Euros, up 4.6% compared to 2009.
In Belgium, sales rose 4% to 4.8 billion Euros, which is "the higher growth of the 7 past years, " said Delhaize.
In the U.S., sales in dollars fell 1% to 18.8 billion for the year. Converted into Euros, the American sales were up 4.2% to 14.18 billion.
In Greece, the subsidiary Alfa Beta could increase its market share, its sales rose 6.3% to 1.56 billion Euros.
In 2011, Delhaize plans to invest about 900 million and expand its network from 100 to 110 stores.
