According to the latest estimates from the Ministry of Agriculture, India will experience a third year of exceptional onions' production.
The production of onions for 2018-19 is expected to be around 23.48 million tonnes, an increase of 0.95% over the previous year. After 2016-17 with 23 million tons and 2017-18 with 23.26 million tons, this is the third consecutive year of outstanding production.
Farmers fear falling prices for onions but prices are volatile. With rapid increases and decreases depending on the level of stocks. Currently, the onions arriving on the market are those harvested in March and April. There will be no new harvest before the end of October.
