Slight increase expected for the production of apples and pears in the Southern hemisphere
WAPA (World Apple and Pear Association) published its crop forecasts for Southern hemisphere.
Based upon information gathered from professionals (in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, New Zealand, South Africa), WAPA forecasts indicate a slight increase in the production of apples and pears.
According to the association, the apple production in the Southern hemisphere is expected to reach 5.468 million tonnes (+1%), while the pear production 1.520 million tons (+2%). These increases should also lead to an increase in exports.
