New varieties of apricots resistant to climate changes come from France
COT INTERNATIONAL was presented in Fruit Logistica by Mrs Marie-Laure Eteve, CEO, which benefits from a high reputation in the sector for her expertise in varietal selection and distribution to fruit growers.
«The season of ripening time for apricots starts from early may and last till the end of august. The variety selection benefits from a close relationship between the agronomists and the grower. It is always possible for them to visit the orchards for each variety when the fruit is ripe and, where possible, to the different areas of production in order to stick as closely as possible to the clients' reality» – Mrs Eteve explained.
«Once the variety has been selected, we start the tree propagation process, which is carried out by various nurseries certified by COT INTERNATIONAL – continued Mrs Eteve. New varieties of apricots are more resistant to shocks (processing machine, harvest) and to climatic risks (wind, rain). This is true for resistance to the cold and also to the hot weather.”
