VOG Consortium now offers cherries
Cherries have long been produced by various members of the twelve cooperatives that make up the South Tyrolean Consortium.
This month, the VOG Consortium, an important Italian and international apple producer, presents Ciliegie delle Alpi, the new brand of cherries. The company offers Kordia and Regina varieties: both sweet, juicy and crunchy.
For this season the marketing forecasts are around 200 tons, or about 30% less than the initial forecasts due to damage caused by frost.
According to Klaus Hölzl, Sales Manager at the VOG Consortium, these two late varieties which, thanks to the altitude of the fields where they are cultivated, all located above 600 metres, ripen steadily, enhancing its sweetness, balance and skin firmness.
Ciliegie delle Alpi will be sold through the wholesale channels of the large-scale retail trade in Italy.
