Panamanian banana exports will grow up to 7% by the end of 2021

This year 2021, Panama expects to finish banana campaign with up to 21 million boxes exported (18.14 kilos each), which would represent a 7% increase compared to the previous year, according to the director of the banana sector in the Ministry of Development Agricultural of Panama (Mida), José De La Lastra.
The increase in production was achieved thanks to good administration, good labor-management relations and an increase in the area planted in the last 3 years.
The main recipient countries for these supplies are the Netherlands, the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Hong Kong, New Zealand, and China.
José De La Lastra stressed that Panama does not import bananas from any country and meets the national demand only with the fruit proudly produced in Panama.
