A very satisfactory year for Peruvian asparagus exports in 2021, which are back to their pre-pandemic levels and show an increase of +6% in volume and +5% in value.
Peru's asparagus exports (fresh, frozen and canned) reached 180,525 tonnes for a value of USD 551 million, an increase of +6% in volume and +5% in value compared to the previous year.
Together accounting for 89% of total Peruvian asparagus shipments, the main destinations in 2021 were:
.United States: +4% increase in volume and +2% more in value compared to the previous year. with 111,355 tonnes for a value of USD 305 million. The North American market represents a 63% share of Peruvian shipments.
.Spain: stable volume and +2% increase in value compared to the previous year, with 22,620 tonnes for a value of 68 million USD. The Spanish market represents a 13% share of Peruvian shipments.
.Netherlands: +29% increase in volume and +29% in value compared to the previous year, with 11,104 tonnes for a value of 44 million USD. The Dutch market represents a 5% share of Peruvian shipments.
.United Kingdom: +13% increase in volume and +11% in value compared to the previous year, with 9,413 tonnes for a value of USD 41 million. The British market represents a 5% share of Peruvian shipments.
.France: an increase of 13% in volume and 11% in value compared to the previous year, with 5,959 tonnes worth USD 23 million. The French market represents a 3% share of Peruvian shipments.
