EU opens for Lebanese potatoes

Lebanese exports of potatoes can enter to Europe.
This is the end of a health embargo that lasted for years. The project EuLebPot, conducted jointly by the EU and Lebanon, has allowed to Lebanese producers to meet European quality standards.
The European Commission has authorized the potatoes from regions of Akkar and Bekaa, in Lebanon. Published in the Official Journal of the EU (2013/413/UE) the decision predicts that Lebanese potatoes will be "introduced into the EU through designated entry points, which must ensure effective controls and reduction of phytosanitary risk. "
Lebanon could export up to 50,000 tons of potatoes in Europe.
