Increase in traffic for the Port of Hamburg

Hamburg has consolidated its position as 2nd port in Europe with container traffic growth of +4.4%.
The port of Hamburg in 2013 recorded a total traffic of 139 million tonnes
This represents a growth of +6.2%. Cargo handling represents an amount of 96.8 million tons (+5.7%), handling of bulk goods 42.3 million tons (+7.2%).
The handling of containers was the main source of this growth, with a throughput of 9.3 million TEU (20-ft standard containers) - TEU (standard 20-foot containers) is +4.4%.
The increase is mainly attributable to the growth of traffic in the North Sea and the Baltic (+10%) and the resumption of trade with Asia and especially with China, the most important partner of the port of Hamburg market.
