"Buy British" to improve your health, help the environment and boost the national economy .
That's the advice given by Owen Paterson, the Secretary for the Environment during the Oxford Farming Conference. The minister deplored that 24% of food consumed in the UK are imported, despite a high range, diverse and varied local production .
For the Minister, the British agriculture produces everything except, of course, pineapples and mangoes. Also it is necessary to encourage consumers to buy British ("Buy British") and focus on Scottish raspberries and apples of Kent.
Imports of fruits and vegetables cost £ 8 billion in 2012. Consumers should purchase more fruits and vegetables to boost British British economy.
