No executive order has been enacted to raise the tariff at this stage.
Chile’s Undersecretariat for International Economic Relations (Subrei) confirmed that exports to the United States are currently subject to a 10% global tariff, with no increase to 15% in force.
The temporary 10% measure, signed by President Donald Trump on 20 February, took effect last week under Section 122 authority and is set for a 150-day period.
The move follows a US Supreme Court decision that struck down the so-called “reciprocal” tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). The new 10% global rate replaces those measures.
Subrei stated that no 15% surcharge has been implemented and that Chilean teams remain in contact with US counterparts, including the USTR and the Department of Commerce.
Although Trump announced a potential rise from 10% to 15%, no formal order has been issued. Bloomberg reported that the White House is preparing a possible increase, but no timeline has been set.
For now, Chilean exports to the US continue to face a 10% global tariff.
