Finland welcomes even more workers from Thailand

According to Finnish media, the country has welcomed more than 4,000 seasonal berry pickers from Thailand this year, 500 more than in previous years.

 

In Finland, the berry season starts in July and lasts until September. This year the season promises to be excellent with an abundance of berries throughout the country.

 

Thai seasonal workers are important for the Finnish berry sector. 2 years ago, entry restrictions to Finland, decided by the Thai authorities due to the Covid pandemic, raised fears that the entire Finnish harvest would be lost.

 

These seasonal workers, for the most part, are not salaried and pick berries in the forest according to their own schedules. By working in Finland, for the berry season, every day including weekends, they have the possibility of earning in 2 months more than in 1 whole year in Thailand.
