India will import new varieties of table grapes

To respond to climate change that has already been observed , improve yields , and reduce production costs , import new varieties of table grapes has bound itself to Indian producers.
MRDBS ( Maharashtra Rajya Draksha Bagayatdar Sanghi ), a grape growers association in the state of Maharashtra ( Western India , capital Mumbai) will import six new varieties from South Africa , Italy and Spain. Free patent varieties that nurseries will deliver by the end of November 2015.
Currently , the region has about 60,702 hectares ( 1.5 acres lahk ) of table grapes . These areas are mainly planted with the variety Thompson. This variety planted for over 50 years now offer yields that leveled (10 tons / acre ) and requires more work which results in increased production costs.
