The BASC certification confirms the adoption of strict measures to manage risks, secure the supply chain and strengthen governance.
The Ecuadorian Banana Exporters Association (AEBE) has become the first banana exporters’ association in the world to obtain the BASC (Business Alliance for Secure Commerce) certification, a recognition that confirms its commitment to secure and transparent international trade.
The certification was formally presented during AEBE’s First General Assembly of Members for 2026, where the organisation reviewed its activities and results from 2025. The milestone marks a new step for Ecuador’s banana sector, which continues to strengthen its position in global markets.
AEBE explained that the BASC certification reflects the implementation of strict processes focused on risk prevention, supply chain security and good governance. These measures aim to protect exports, ensure traceability and reinforce confidence among international buyers and authorities.
The association also highlighted that, since April 2025, new member companies are required to pass a compliance and risk assessment process as part of AEBE’s efforts to maintain high operational and ethical standards across the sector.
