The EU has imported 93 million tonnes of food for a total amount of 101 bn EUR

EU imports of 2016 increased by 6% in volume and 18% in value compared to 2012.
A recent EUROSTAT report tells us that the EU imported nearly 93 million tonnes of food in 2016, for a total of EUR 101 Bn.
Compared to 2012, food imports increased by 6% in volume and by 18% in value.
These food imports came mainly from Brazil (9 Bn EUR, or 9% of total food imports outside the EU), the United States (7 Bn EUR, 7%), Norway (6.8% Bn EUR, 7%), Argentina (5.4 Bn EUR, 5%), China (4.8 Bn EUR, 5%) and Turkey (4.5 Bn EUR, 4%).
