Within a few days, the new season of grapes, apricots and dried figs, dried fruit promotion group, which Turkey is the largest producer, was also there to enjoy the Australian raisins, dried figs, dried apricots and pistachios.
Turkey is 1st among Australian imports of dried fruit with an annual turnover of $ 50 million, constituting the eighth market for Turkish dried fruits. Although Australia produces itself raisins and dried apricots, it exported this year 10-12 000 tonnes of raisins, some 4,000 tons of dried apricots and nearly 2000 tons of dried figs. 80 percent of figs, apricots 75% and half of raisins sold in Australia are of Turkish origin.
With Chinese and Hindu population growing, the Australians are good consumers of dried fruit and are therefore an important potential. The goal of Turkey is to double its exports and reach $ 100 million in the coming years.
