Peruvian fresh asparagus export volume increased by 18%

From January to August 2021, Peruvian fresh asparagus exports reached 67,590,747 kilos for a value of $202,036,290, showing an 18% increase in volume compared to the same period of previous year, according to the president of the Inform@cción query, Fernando Cillóniz Benavides.

The main recipient of these supplies was North America with 49,496,311 kilos ($130,690,378), which represents 73.2% of total volume and 64.7% of total value.

Other destinations: Europe with 15,988,937 kilos ($ 63,476,183); Latin America with 1,577,635 kilos ($ 5,637,455), Asia with 504,462 kilos ($ 2,134,099), Africa, 20,950 kilos ($ 88,894), Oceania, 2,450 kilos ($ 9,280).

According to Cillóniz, on average Peruvian fresh asparagus exports reach $ 400 million annually.

Due to the good performance registered in the first half of 2021, Peruvian exports of fresh asparagus are expected to reach $ 450 million by the end of 2021.
