A Canadian company has developed a genetically modified Golden apple which does not blacken when his flesh is exposed to air.
The biotechnology company, Okanagan Specialty Fruits, has developed the apple genetically modified Golden Delicious named Artic that does not oxidize in air and retains its color, even cut.
The Canadian company has asked permission from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Food and Drug Administration for marketing.
Okanagan Specialty Fruits believes that the apple Artic, with this property, could boost sales of apples in fast food and snacks.
