Hokkaido suppliers target overseas markets through two-city matchmaking

JETRO Hokkaido organised consecutive export matchmaking sessions in Kushiro/Nemuro on 15 September and Obihiro on 16 September, bringing regional suppliers together with domestic trading companies that already sell food overseas.

The meetings were aimed at Hokkaido companies interested in exporting agricultural food products but looking to work through Japanese intermediaries rather than dealing directly with foreign buyers.

Target markets covered Southeast Asia, including Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines, as well as Hong Kong, Taiwan, North America and Europe. Meetings were arranged in advance after participating trading companies screened the suppliers' products, with individual discussions lasting around 30-40 minutes.
