Ecuadorian banana exports to the European Union grow 22.4% up to August

From January to August 2023, reductions are recorded in Ecuadorian banana exports to the Middle East (-8.38%), Eastern Europe (-46.94%), mainly due to the drastic decrease in exports to Ukraine due to the war with Russia, EFTA (-13.25%) and Canada (-81.9%).
From January to August 2023, Ecuador's banana exports totalled 247,960,827 boxes, representing an increase of 7.17% compared to the same period in 2022, according to data from the Association of Banana Marketing and Export (Acorbanec).
The largest increase in exports is observed in the European Union, which grew 22.41%, reaching 74,126,479 boxes.
In addition, increases were observed in exports to Russia (+5.6%) and the United States (+4.99%).
However, decreases are recorded in exports to the Middle East (-8.38%), Eastern Europe (-46.94%), mainly due to the drastic decrease in exports to Ukraine due to the war with Russia, EFTA (-13.25%) and Canada (-81.9%).
