Argentina's exports will benefit from the decline of production in Spain

The drop in lemon production in Spain offers Argentina the opportunity to increase its exports to the European market.

In Spain, lemon production is estimated at 1.1 million tonnes, about 150 000 tonnes less than the previous season. To make up this deficit on the European market, lemons will come from South Africa and Argentina. Argentina sees a good opportunity to increase its exports to the European market.

According to FEDERCITRUS, the Argentine Citrus Federation, domestic production will increase by 10% from 1.4 million tonnes last year to 1.55 million tonnes in 2018. Exports could increase to all destinations (Europe , USA, Asia).
