In the 2023/2024 campaign, Peruvian blueberry exports are projected to reach approximately 300,000 tons, reflecting a 5% increase compared to the previous campaign.
This was affirmed by Daniel Bustamante, President of the Association of Blueberry Producers of Peru (Proarándanos), who emphasized that the final production volume will depend on the impact of El Niño phenomenon.
He cautioned about the importance of monitoring minimum temperatures to safeguard the flowering process and the weight per berry of the fruit that has already formed. The potential effects on productivity due to such factors must also be considered.
Regarding the recent rainfall associated with Cyclone Yaku, Bustamante clarified that it did not impact the blueberry crop as it occurred after the conclusion of the 2022/2023 campaign, thereby avoiding any interference with the harvest.
