Estimated production similar to last season but with better quality, a consequence of varietal renewal.
The working group Spain-France-Italy, made up of representatives of producers from these three countries, analyzed the data from the 2017 campaign and advanced on collaboration in plant protection at its recent meeting in Agen, (France).
Representatives of the 3 countries estimate production similar to that of 2016, or about 294 000 tonnes, and also provide for better quality, due to the varietal renewal that has been carried out on most farms. FRESHUELVA said that the plantations reach 5,400 hectares, the area planted in Italy is 3,400 hectares, the French representatives estimate the national production at 45,000 tons.
In the phytosanitary field, the Group has strengthened cooperation between members. Italy adheres to the work already undertaken by France and Spain on the mutual recognition of authorized means.
"AOP Fraise de France" confirmed its presence for the 3rd International Red Fruit Congress organized by FRESHUELVA in June in Huelva.
