SENASA certified the first shipment of 22,000 kilos of citrus from northeastern Argentina, highlighting the growth of international citrus trade.
Argentina's National Service for Food Safety and Quality (Senasa) certified the first export of 22,000 kilograms of fresh oranges to Guatemala, marking a milestone in trade with the Central American country.
Senasa, under the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries, ensures the health of citrus fruits throughout the entire production chain and certifies compliance with the phytosanitary requirements demanded by international markets.
This shipment was possible after Guatemala established the phytosanitary conditions for importing Argentine citrus fruits in mid-year. The exported oranges originated from Argentina's Northeast region (NEA).
In 2024, Argentina exported 58,000 tons of fresh oranges, with 32,900 tons destined for South American markets such as Paraguay, Brazil, and Chile.
