Spanish exports of fruits and vegetables recorded an increase of 9% this year
2011 ended well for Spanish fruit and vegetables with an increase in export volumes of nearly 9% over the previous year.
FEPEX found that the volume of exports in 2011 reached 10.4 million tons, 9% more than in 2010 with the values remaining similar.
2011 was marked by the crisis of E. Coli that caused a general decline in consumption in the European Union. Until May, exports increased steadily and the outbreak of E. coli led to a sharp fall in June (-10%), July (-23.5%) and August (-6%).
