Grape exports to Europe increased by 31%

Nearly 90% of exports are white grapes and Indian professionals would like more colorful varieties to further expand their international market share.
The export campaign for table grapes 2018-19 has just been completed. The volume shipped has increased and demand from European countries has increased by 31%.
According to APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Development Agency), Indian grape exports for this 2018-19 season totaled 121,469 tonnes (92,286 tonnes in 2017-18). The volume exported to Europe increased by 31%. In Europe the demand of 3 countries (Germany, Netherlands, United Kingdom) represented 90% of the volume shipped to this continent. Data on exports to other destinations are not finalized but shipments to Russia and China may have increased by around 25-30%.
India enjoys a very extended harvest season, from October to May, which has allowed it to capture nearly 70% of the market share of white grapes in Europe for the March to May period.
