While fruit exports increased by 33% in quantity and 65% in value, and fruit exports by 2 and 9% respectively, exports of citrus fruits fell by 32% in quantity and by 28% in value, confirming a later start to the season.
The fruits represent the largest part of its exports with the grapes at the head, in second position the figs. Lemon still comes in third, with 38% less exports than in September 2016. Tomatoes, in fourth place, saw their exports increased by 48% in quantity but only by 4% in value compared to at the same time last year.
Looking at the main importing countries, Russia has returned to first place, accounting for about one third of total exports, all varieties combined. It has quintupled its exports compared to September 2016. This increase can be explained by the authorization of imports of Turkish grapes. Germany follows and Saudi Arabia comes in 3rd place and Iraq in 4th position.
Note once again the huge increase in Qatar's exports, even though they represent only one per cent of Turkey's total exports.
40% of vegetable exports were sent to Saudi Arabia, 6% to Germany, 11% to Israel and 14% to Syria (in quantity).
27% of citrus exports were sent to Russia, 8% to Poland and 15% to Iraq. Indonesia in 4th position.
