The fresh fruit and vegetables market in Denmark 2002-2007

 

With a population of 5.43 million people, this was equivalent to a consumption of 79 kg fruit per capita.

 

Between 2002 and 2007, consumption grew by 14%.

 

Consumption of vegetables was 419 thousand tonnes in 2007, which was equivalent to 77 kg per capita. Between 2002 and 2007, consumption of vegetables increased by 8%.

 

Denmark’s production of fresh fruit and vegetables accounts for less than 1% of total EU production in 2007, which is in line with its population share of 1% (FAOSTAT 2008 - http://faostat.fao.org).

 

In 2007, fruit production was 72 thousand tonnes (FAOSTAT 2008) and increased slightly over the last years.
