Peru's pitahaya export market on the rise
VU
The growth strategy focuses on four priority destinations for 2025–2027.
Peru’s pitahaya exports are showing sustained growth. According to local media, the country shipped more than 424,000 kg in 2024, generating US$ 1.37 million. In the first half of 2025 alone, export earnings have already reached US$ 1.57 million, surpassing last year’s performance.
The United States remains the most attractive destination, with an unmet demand of around 31,000 tonnes. While Ecuador currently supplies 87% of that market, Peru holds a 48% price advantage and competitive potential in organic and red-pulp premium segments. Brazil’s focus on its domestic market and seasonal supply gaps from Ecuador and Colombia between March and June create favorable commercial windows for Peru.
Key target markets for 2025–2027 include United States (high-value organic and red-pulp demand), Netherlands (European redistribution hub), Spain (gourmet segment), domestic market (expanding consumption).
