French asparagus awarded PGI status

Asparagus from the Sables des Landes in France is now recognised with the EU PGI label.
The label has been obtained after four years of effort by local producers.
The region is known for its sandy soil, and the production areas for the label must achieve a sand level of over 75 percent.
