Cultivation of avocados more profitable than marijuana's crops
MD
Cultivation of avocados will replace cultivation of marijuana in the Chihuahua State (northern Mexico), considered not profitable enough and too risky.
Long used to grow marijuana and cannabis, certain areas of the state will change radically. Crops of marijuana illegal and risky, are not as profitable as in the past. The production cost is high and prices remain low. That’s why ten farmers will start to cultivate avocados in the town of Morelos, in the area of Sierra Tarahumara, reported the newspaper El Heraldo de Chihuahua.
The program is led by the Mexican government which will give them seeding of avocados, lemons, oranges, pomegranates and mangoes. The products of these new crops could be marketed during the second year.
