Europe: reduced vegetable volumes but Spain remains the most reliable supplier

 

 

 

FEPEX, the Spanish Federation of Exporters, states that vegetable production from the EU as a whole has been reduced to 60% of its normal level. In Spain outdoor crops were particularly affected but favorable climatic conditions are expected in February and March to improve supply.

 

 

 

"In southeastern Spain, the current situation is due to a combination of drought in October and November, heavy rains and flooding in December and January, followed by snow and frost. The new planting cycle, these factors will result in a 30% reduction in vegetable volumes, although this varies from one product to another, and the shortage will affect the entire supply chain. "

 

 

 

For FEPEX, this crisis has highlighted the fact that Spain has confirmed its status as the most reliable supplier in Europe in quantity and quality. The country maintains its ability to supply European markets despite adverse weather conditions.
