Grand Marché de Provence: Actium’s Three Major Initiatives

Actium was founded in 2018 at the initiative of professionals and elected officials from the Châteaurenard and Alpes-Maritimes Market of National Interest. The association brings together, organizes, and supports the economic development of businesses in sectors such as production, marketing, distribution, logistics, processing, services, and institutions. “It is a useful tool for fostering a true ecosystem and sustainably strengthening the region’s economic activity, thereby enabling its members to remain competitive through the services it provides,” says Gilles Bertrand, director of Actium. In this way, the association helps strengthen the regional economy by supporting businesses in their operations and enabling them to address societal challenges. The Grand Marché de Provence program aims to highlight and promote regional agricultural and agri-food products, develop low-carbon transportation, and train the workforce of tomorrow.

First-Kilometer Pickup

Mini-logistics hubs have been set up in production areas in Carpentras and Saint-Martin-de-la-Crau to reduce the number of trucks on the roads and the distance traveled to supply the Châteaurenard market. “A third hub is planned for 2027 north of Orange,” says Gilles Bertrand. Between 3,500 and 4,000 metric tons are expected to be collected this year. Pickup is handled by local carriers selected through a call for proposals. The average fill rate for these collections exceeds 87%, which is nearly double that of individual deliveries.

Consolidation and Collective Delivery to the Alpes-Maritimes

A shared logistics service has also been established to handle last-mile delivery in the Alpes-Maritimes. A warehousing and consolidation service is provided at the Grand Marché de Provence logistics hub in the Iscles Industrial Zone by Transports Barbero.
