In the United States, cherry growers in the Northwest (states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Utah) have revised down the harvest forecast for this season.
Cherry growers in the Northwest (states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Utah) have made a new estimate of the 2022 harvest and now forecast a total of 13.6 million boxes, or 136,800 tons:
-state of Washington: 104,500 tons,
- State of Oregon: 29,200 tons,
-state of Idaho: 2,000 tons,
- state of Montana: 800 tons,
-State of Utah: 300 tons.
Unfavorable weather conditions, with a snowstorm in mid-April at the time of flowering, seriously affected production.
The volume forecast for this 2022 harvest shows a variation of -33% compared to the previous year and around -35% compared to the average volume of the last 5 years. We have to go back to 2008 for an estimate of the harvest below 14 million boxes.
