Strawberries exports for a value of 3 million dollars

The producer of Yaltir Tarim Ürünleri strawberries is situated in Silifke (Mersin) in south-eastern Turkey, which produces 80 percent of Turkish strawberries. The company started the production of strawberries in 1986 and currently with 3 hectares production and now hold 3000 hectares, with an annual average of 15 000 tonnes of strawberries. The producers knew how to adapt varieties to market requirements and created a cooperative for better logistics.
In 2015, about 25 percent of production was exported for a value of $ 3 million. Importing countries are mainly Romania, Poland, the Baltic countries, Ukraine and Iraq.
Despite the problems with Russia, the strawberry market was booming because of the domestic market, which absorbs 20 percent of production and industry, which absorbs another 20 percent are on the rise. The remaining production is sold directly to consumers or sent to markets.
