Sending of seeds and fertilizers to Iraq
FJ
Food resources are a crucial issue especially in countries experiencing armed conflict issue.
FAO , the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation began shipping to Iraq seeds, fertilizer and fodder for animals. They will be distributed to nearly 28,000 farm families in areas of Nineveh , Dohuk , Erbil and Diyala.
Hostilities have seriously disrupted the agricultural sector, land abandonment , loss of livestock , destroyed property and equipment, loss of markets. Crops this summer have been compromised , which reduced food supply across the country .
Currently about 2.8 million people need food aid. This situation could worsen as farmers continue to lose productive assets.
