Interko upgrades RipePilot with fully digital data network
Interko will present its ripening and cooling solutions at Fruit Logistica 2026 in Berlin.
Interko has rolled out a major digital upgrade to its RipePilot ripening control system, enhancing data collection and analysis inside fruit ripening rooms as demand grows for smarter, more efficient ripening solutions.
The new system replaces the previous set-up with a fully digital data network, allowing RipePilot to receive more accurate and detailed information from sensors installed within the ripening room. This data is analysed in real time throughout the ripening cycle, giving operators greater visibility over conditions and tighter control over the final fruit quality.
According to Interko, connecting all sensors through a single digital data cable also simplifies installation, maintenance and servicing. This streamlined configuration reduces complexity on site and helps lower overall operating costs.
The upgrade follows four years of customer testing and is designed to support further technical developments. By creating a digital backbone for the system, Interko says RipePilot is now better positioned to integrate additional sensors in the future, opening the door to even more precise control of the ripening process.
Chris Maat, managing director and partner at Interko, said the move reflects a broader shift towards data-driven decision-making in fresh produce operations. He noted that the ability to handle larger and more consistent datasets gives operators a clearer picture of what is happening inside the ripening room and supports more reliable outcomes.
RipePilot was introduced in late 2022 and is designed to automatically optimise fruit ripening while reducing product losses and energy consumption. The system has been widely adopted, with more than 100 ripening sites now using the technology across over 300 Interko-installed ripening rooms. It can be integrated into new installations or retrofitted into existing Ultimo, Optimo, Axesso and Mobilo rooms.
Demand for the system remains strong. In early 2026, Interko is installing RipePilot across 50 ripening rooms for a single customer in the UK, combining new builds and retrofits.
Interko will present its ripening and cooling solutions at Fruit Logistica 2026 in Berlin, where it will offer free consultations to fruit ripeners, retailers, importers and distributors. The company will exhibit in Hall 1.2, Stand D-40, alongside Fresh Produce Instruments. To schedule an appointment, send your inquiry today.
