If the experience of growing tomatoes and cucumbers in the space station is successful, the crew will not be allowed to taste the harvest ..
The crew joining the International Space Station (ISS) consists of a Russian, American and Japanese cosmonaut.
Mike Fossum, Sergei Volkov and Satoshi Furukawa will spend six months aboard the international space station. Many scientific experiments are planned.
The Japanese cosmonaut will support the program of growing vegetables. However tomatoes and cucumbers will not be sampled by the cosmonauts if the experiment succeeds, due to health and safety issues!
