Grapes, kiwifruit and pomegranates in Russian market in January 2008

Generally grapes were not too much available on the market in week 3. There were first Argentine grapes available – 4,33 US$/kg for non-eatable stuff ! Eventually the prices went down for Red Globe variety from Europe – to 3,50 US$/kg, Spanish Napoleon was finishing it’s season on 3,265 US$/kg level. First South African grapes were on the market as well – Black Gem and white varieties – 5,44 US$/kg.
The Italian kiwis have been completely sold out. The market was defined by Iranian production – 2,12 US$/kg. Importers showed some activity in Greece in order to satisfy the demand which was higher in the week 2 than supply. The next arrivals of Italian kiwis expected to start from 2,40 US$/kg level.
Iran was dominating on pomegranates market as well – from 2,45 US$/kg up. The very last Egyptian pomegranates, after repacking, were offered from 1,43 US$/kg to 1,84 US$/kg. The first Indian pomegranates appeared on the market – 3,47 US$/kg.
