Maersk suspend business in Iran

The company Maersk, world leader in maritime container trade, is committed to complying with all relevant foreign trade controls and sanctions programs, including all relevant provisions of U.S. and EU sanctions related to Iran.
AP Moller-Maersk have a comprehensive compliance program in place and continue to take all actions necessary to comply with all U.S. and EU trade regulations. The United States have put the company Tidewater Middle East blacklisted and prohibited any transactions with the company that manages more than 90% of container operations in Iran.
Maersk Line has decided to cease acceptance of business to and from the Iranian ports of Bandar Abbas, Bandar Khomeini and Asaluyeh.These ports handle 2.56 million tons of general cargo and 10.32 million tons of bulk goods. Shipments from Iran will be send to Dubai, pending partnership with companies that are not bound by U.S. sanctions.
The food supply will be disrupted in Iran which receives rice, wheat and bananas from Asia.
