Introduction of SwissGap delayed
Switzerland
Friday 31 March 2006
Switzerland's version of EurepGap, SwissGap, which had been due to be introduced in January 2007, has been put back again.
Swiss growers have complained that the new norms are too expensive and difficult to implement.
For example, after a one-year pilot period, a working group from the Swiss potato growers union concluded that there were too many rules (some 200 points to follow) and the procedure too complex and expensive (between SF2000-3000 per farm).
