European infusions for Bulgarian agriculture
FJ
Bulgaria should receive billions of euros over the next 6-7 years.
Phil Hogan , the European Commissioner for Agriculture , spoke of European investments of about 7.5 billion euros over the next 6-7 years in Bulgarian agriculture. About 4 billion euros represent the direct payments, the rest are programs for rural development.
Previous programs have proved to be successful , Bulgarian agriculture was able to partially fill the gap. Measures to assist producers affected by the Russian embargo should continue. Where budget is allocated by the member countries of the EU.
In comparison with Poland or Romania, heavily affected by the Russian embargo countries, Bulgaria would be less affected. Yet Bulgarian cherry producers lost a major market , 75% of their exports were going to Russia.
