Argentina is the first lemons producer

Argentina became the first lemons producers ahead Spain and the United States.
With 1.5 million tons, Argentina is the world leader in production of lemons before Spain and the United States, according to the Argentine Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA). The Institute has released its data at the International Congress Nursery held in Tucumán.
According to the Institute, 34 000 hectares of the Tucumán region contributes to 84% to national production of lemons. The production area represents 68% for industry and 32% for fresh products. The European Union receives 76% of the lemons exports from Tucuman, followed by Eastern Europe which buys 19%.
