Peruvian mango returns to Chilean markets
VU
In March 2022, Chile closed the entry of Peruvian mangos to its territory due to the finding of West Indian red scale or Selenaspidus articulatus in the shipments of the mentioned fruit.
This May, according to the newspaper La República de Perú, the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri) announced that access for Peruvian mangoes to Chile has been restored after the bilateral meeting between the phytosanitary authorities of both countries.
According to Midagri, the agreement was signed by the national head of the National Agrarian Health Service of Peru (Senasa Peru), Miguel Quevedo, and the National Director of the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) of Chile, Andrea Collao, in a protocol ceremony in Arica.
From Midagri they pointed out that the technical teams also work on obtaining access to Chilean market for the grape.
