Fruits and Vegetable exports in decrease

According to statistics recorded by the Mediterranean Exporters Union, national coordinator for the export of fruits and vegetables, the export figures for January and February showed a decrease of 21% in quantity and 22% in value.
This is especially vegetables that experienced the largest decline with less than 38%. Citrus exports are also lower than that of last year for the same period with 11% less in quantity and 20% less in value. The export of fruit was no exception to the rule with a decrease of 8% in volume and 5% in value.
The most fruits and vegetables exported are in that order tomatoes, oranges, lemons and tangerines. The major importing countries are Russia, Iraq, Romania and Germany. A notice that the exports to Syria have dramatically lowered.The economic situation is the main cause of the decline in exports.
