Meanwhile, Spain is the sixth provider for Portugal. In 2020, according to data up to November, the Spanish export of fruit and vegetables to Portugal fell 5 percent in volume, with a total of 599.403 tons, and increased the same percentage in value, totaling 440 million euros.
According to the latest data for the month of January, presented by the General Customs Directorate, in 2020, fruit and vegetable imports to Spain from Portugal totaled 262.228 tons, which is 7 percent more than in the same period in 2019, with a value of 222 million euros (+29 percent).
Compared to the same period, from January to November, of the last five years, Spanish imports increased by 40 percent in volume, with 187.010 tons in 2016 and 262.227 tons in 2020, while the value increased by 95 percent, going from 114 million euros in 2016 to 222 million euros in 2020.
After France, Portugal became the second supplier for the Spanish market. Among the imported production are tomatoes, potatoes, oranges, avocados, kiwis, raspberries and others.

Comparing the last five years of the period from January to November, Spanish exports to Portugal have decreased by 53 percent in volume, with 644.195 tons in 2016 and 599.403 tons in 2020.
In terms of value, Spanish sales in 2016 totaled 415 million euros, and in 2020 they registered a growth of 6 percent, with a total of 440 million euros.
