The quality standards set by the export markets have led to the use of the cold chain by exporters but also by producers.
A study found that in Vietnam 25.4% of agricultural products are lost before reaching processing sites or distribution centers and only 66.7% of exporters use cold chain technologies. More attention is being paid to the logistics of the cold chain in Vietnam.
For a long time fragmented, the cold chain is in full development. Perceptions have changed and the cold chain is no longer seen as an immediate cost but rather as a major asset to preserve the quality and value of products.
Cold storage capacities have quadrupled in recent years and new projects are being developed across the country. Around 350 shopping centers will be built by 2020, warehouses and storage sites will be multiplied, transport companies will acquire hundreds of temperature-controlled trucks.
