Declining in production and imports
FJ
The total potato production for 2013-14 is 2.3% down compared to the 2012-13 figures , according to estimates of the various states of the Indian Union.
This decline in production is attributed to several factors: adverse weather conditions in several states, pests in others. At these setbacks were added precarious transport conditions and high storage costs without forgetting speculative operations.
To calm the prices and offset the growing gap between supply and demand, the authorities will implement various measures and intend to import potatoes from Bangladesh .
