Fruit export value increased in early 2025/26, with volume gains in blueberries and avocados offsetting weaker cherry returns.
Chile exported USD 5.91 billion worth of fruit between September 2025 and February 2026, marking a 6% increase compared with the same period a year earlier, according to the March 2026 fruit bulletin published by Chile’s Office of Agricultural Studies and Policies (Odepa).
Overall export performance
Fresh fruit remained the backbone of exports, accounting for 73% of total export value, although the value of fresh shipments slipped 2% year-on-year. At the same time, export volumes of fresh fruit increased 2%, reaching 1.495 million tonnes, up from 1.462 million tonnes in the previous season.
Cherries
Cherries continued to dominate Chile’s export portfolio. Between September 2025 and February 2026, shipments reached USD 2.60 billion and 569,000 tonnes, representing 60% of the value and 38% of the volume of fresh fruit exports.
However, both value and volume declined compared with the previous season, falling 8% and 9% respectively. China remained the main destination, taking 87% of Chile’s cherry exports.
Blueberries
Fresh blueberry exports totalled USD 460 million and 91,000 tonnes, rising 10% in value and 5% in volume year-on-year.
Frozen blueberries recorded even stronger gains, with shipments increasing 37% in volume and 38% in value, reaching 29,000 tonnes and USD 102 million.
Avocados
Avocados ranked third among Chile’s fresh fruit exports during the period. Shipments reached USD 380 million and 150,000 tonnes, reflecting a 12% increase in value and a 25% rise in volume compared with the same period last season.
Dried fruit
Dried fruit accounted for 11% of total export value, reaching USD 654 million, nearly doubling from the previous season. Growth was driven mainly by higher exports of hazelnuts and walnuts.
